2nd Edition of the Eliminations for the XXXI International Chopin Festival in Mazovia

In 2023, the 2nd edition of the XXXI International Chopin Festival in Mazovia took place in Xiamen. The Beijing Minghua Piano Art Research Institute, actively involved in organising and promoting cultural events and piano education activities, including competitions, training sessions, and concerts, is a partner to the Sounds of Art Foundation and co-organiser of this event.

The first edition of the national eliminations in China was held in Xiamen in 2022, with over 300 participants. In the following year, the number of participants tripled — over 1000 amateur pianists and 50 professional ones (students of music schools from all over China) competed for the opportunity to participate in the final competition in Poland. Eliminations for the final were organised in over 40 cities, including Beijing and Tianjin, and in the capitals of 18 provinces and 3 autonomous regions.

The event began with an opening concert, greetings, and speeches, including one from Mr. Chen Yong, the chairman of the Beijing Minghua Piano Art Research Institute. Then, eliminations for different age groups were held, divided into professional and amateur groups. The event also featured masterclasses conducted by distinguished Chinese educators. The competition concluded with an award ceremony and a Winners’ Concert.

12 participants from China qualified for the Polish final, which took place in November in Sochaczew, while 60 young pianists had the opportunity to participate in a cultural exchange in Warsaw and attend classes and masterclasses led by professors from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music.
